To think a year this month and it will be 30 years since he left us. I could in no way attempt to cover the song Imagine like John Lennon composed it so I did my own take on it. Done for one of my assignments at college. A big thanks to Charlie for the piano playing.. he's a star!
Recorded this live in the Rockhopper Studio in Birmingham at the Music Live expo.
Norman Nomates looking for friends so how about it. Are you on myspace, if so why not come over and see me and we can be friends... hmmmm
... and I blow my own trumpet' Come on you have to in this business! - Tom Robinson (BBC Radio 6) listened to a selection of tracks on MySpace and said,
'My first impression on listening at MySpace was that this is a strong collection of songs, well written and delivered. The vocal styling is distinctive and appealing - you connect emotionally with the listener.'
And went on to say:
'Your stuff is really good, so use your belief in it to get up and go under your own steam.'
the 14 track album 'Joe - A London Tale' which is raw and real but still pretty unique.. me thinks, but I will let you judge. Take the time if you have it to listen to the whole album, it's worth it.
Let me know what you think people looking for publishers/A+R/Producers to comment and anyone else for that matter.
Best, Kirby.
I Don't Know
I don't know, where the time goes
Looking back on my life
I guess it might show
I feel sometimes I haven't done much
To satisfy my life
and stay in touch
But I've done a bit of this, I've done a bit of that
I've done a bit of everything but I don't know where I'm at
I've had my in's and out's, had my ups and down's
shaken hands with the devil and then he thru me out
Then he thru me out
So I don't know, where the years go
I've had my share of losing
I guess it might show
But then I took my time, maybe left it to late
To give something back
To a life I'd hate
Well I thru away the drink, I thru away the drugs
I thru away the life that had fed me to the dogs
I looked inside myself to see what I could find
I knelt and spoke to god and prayed that I could change
I prayed that I could change
So I don't know where everyone goes
But you have your memories of the one's you lose
The one's you lose.

My Life has to versions one with guns and one with knives, this is the gun version. The song is about influence and friendship and above all it's about the choices we with out a doubt have!!!
So many years ago, sat in the dinning room with my cousin Andrew jamming on our acoustics. I was about fifteen at the time wasn't really that good at playing guitar, he was though... still is. I remember him talking once about some beer he had tried, raved about how good it was. A short time later I wrote a song called Old Peculiar (The Beer). The song, well words anyway I drafted into the first band I was in and thus beginning it's like as a punk ditty. It moved to the next band I was in new music again and was produced by Bill 'Be Bop' Nelson. Today its become so much more with new music I wrote and added some more verses and a bridge and... I love it, I guess because it's real. It's about life and it cant get any better than that!
